Before anything changed

I was looking for a space to set up a showroom for the company's activity.

I had scheduled a meeting with a person, with whom we were discussing the possibility of cooperation.

If everything went well, we needed to find a space where people could come and see the products and solutions we offered up close.

But I wasn't just looking for a space.

I had a very clear idea in my mind of how I wanted it to be.

I wanted it to have a certain area.

To be visible from the main road.

And to have parking available in front.

One night before the meeting, I sat down and started to draw it on a piece of paper.

I drew the road.

The position of the shop.

The facade.

The parking spaces.

I tried to put on paper what I had in mind, even the way the space would be positioned in relation to the road.

Then I prayed.

I asked God to give me exactly what I was looking for:

A space no smaller than 100 square meters, with a facade facing the main road and with parking in front.

This time I didn't just want to hope.

I wanted to ask with faith.

The verse I had in mind was:

“This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.”

1 John 5:14-15

Part 02

The turning point

The next day I went to the meeting.

After hearing the proposal that had been made to me, it was time for me to present what I was looking for.

I explained it clearly:

I wanted a space no smaller than 100 square meters.

With a facade facing the road.

And with parking in front.

The answer was positive.

Immediately, the search for possibilities began.

We went to see some spaces.

But none of them matched what I had asked for.

Some were too small.

Some were too big.

Some didn't have the facade I was looking for.

Others didn't have the right position.

But I wasn't worried.

I said we should wait.

There was no need to rush.

While we were considering the options, I received a phone call.

— Did you find anything?

— No, not yet — I said. — We can wait. There's no need to rush.

The answer was confident:

— We will find it. We will close it today.

After a few minutes, another call came.

Another space had been found.

I went to see it.

Part 03

What I understood

This time something was different.

I liked the location.

It was the space I was looking for.

It had a facade facing the street.

And parking in front.

There was only one detail that needed clarification.

I didn't yet know the exact surface area and, between the facade and the space, there was an area that needed to be included in the project.

They told me that area would be included in the space and would become part of the facade.

Alright.

I waited for the final floor plan.

When it arrived, I opened the document.

100.5 square meters.

Not 90.

Not 95.

Not 99.

100,5.

My request had been:

No less than 100 square meters.

But my surprise was not over yet.

Part 04

What changed

When I returned to the office, I remembered the paper where I had made the drawing the night before.

I opened it.

I looked at it again.

Then I opened the floor plan.

And then came that moment that I cannot explain otherwise, except with one word:

Wow.

The position of the space matched what I had drawn.

The street was in front.

The facade was oriented towards the street.

The parking spaces were in front, in the position I had imagined.

And the space was 100.5 square meters.

I stood looking at my drawing and the floor plan.

I wasn't just seeing a space.

I was seeing how detailed what I had asked for had been.

And then I thought:

“How precise is the Kingdom of God.”

It wasn't just about finding a shop.

It was not even about the money I could earn or the business that would develop there.

For me, the discovery was elsewhere.

I had begun to understand that faith did not simply mean saying:

“I hope it happens.”

I had asked for something concrete.

I had it before my eyes.

I had drawn it.

I had asked God for it.

And, when what I had asked for appeared before me, the match was so precise that it made me stop and think.

What if we haven't yet understood how precise what God has prepared for those who seek Him is?

That day left me again with the same word:

“Uau.”

And, along with it, it left me with a new question:

“If the Word teaches us to ask God according to His will, then what does it truly mean to ask with faith?”
