Before anything changed
A few days later, I had a meeting with a client for a product we wanted to sell him.
We had agreed to do a demonstration, leaving the device at his business premises.
We had been working with this client for more than a month and had promised him that we would try to meet his demands.
But it was not a simple situation.
The software he used was specific and required special developments from our programmers.
We were under a lot of pressure to get everything working and to meet all the client's demands.
And time was not on our side.
In fact, a friend of mine, who had suggested this client to us, was asking us to take the device and remove it from his premises.
He too was under a lot of pressure and did not want the situation to worsen.
On the other hand, I knew we had done everything we could.
The part we had directly undertaken, we had completed.
Only a few technical details remained, which required more time from the development team.
The next day we had to go to the meeting again.
The turning point
This time I decided to do something I had done before.
I decided to turn to God with a specific request and to believe, relying on His Word.
The verses I was relying on were 1 John 5:14–15.
They teach us that when we ask according to His will, God hears us.
“This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.”
1 John 5:14-15
I began to present my requests to God one by one.
I didn't just ask that we succeed in selling the product we had left for demonstration.
I asked that, if it was God's will, other opportunities for similar work in this client's business would open up for us.
Then I waited.
What I understood
The next day we went to the meeting.
Before we went in, I told my colleague:
“Prepare for victory.”
But, as soon as we sat down opposite the client, the first sentence I heard was:
“I was about to take the device and throw it out the window!”
At that moment I thought to myself:
“Well… Let's wait and see how this conversation goes.”
We began once again to explain the device to them and demonstrate how it worked.
About 30 minutes passed.
Then we sat down again and began to discuss the respective offers.
And something happened that we didn't expect.
What changed
The client not only signed the offers but also asked us to continue with other parts of his activity.
We had entered a meeting where the first sentence had been:
“I was about to take the device and throw it out the window!”
But we left it with signed offers and other work opportunities.
Our joy was indescribable.
But, for me, that day was not just a won contract.
It was another reminder of what it means to trust God before you see how a situation will end.
I had learned something from these experiences.
It wasn't just about what I was asking for.
It was about where I was placing my trust.
Where you can continue
