DO I JUST HAVE TO LEARN TO LIVE WITH THIS?

When you've suffered for a long time but still believe there may be another way.

HAVE YOU LIVED WITH SOMETHING FOR SO LONG THAT YOU'VE GOTTEN USED TO IT?

Maybe it's pain.

A condition that keeps coming back.

A problem that limits you.

Something you once kept trying to change.

At first, you looked for a solution.

You looked for help.

You thought:

“There has to be a way.”

Then months passed.

Maybe years.

And slowly you began saying:

“THIS IS JUST HOW IT IS.”

“THIS IS HOW IT'S GOING TO BE.”

“I HAVE TO LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT.”

But is that the only answer?

SOMEONE ELSE HAD REACHED THIS VERY POINT

For years, he had severe stomach pain.

When it came, he sometimes stayed in bed for up to two days.

He pulled his knees up.

He waited for the pain to pass.

His drawer was full of medication.

Even when he traveled, the medication went with him.

After so much time...

the pain was no longer only a problem.

IT HAD BECOME PART OF HIS LIFE.

He knew it.

He expected it.

And little by little, he had learned to organize his life around it.

FOR YEARS, HE ALSO HAD DIFFICULT NIGHTS

There were nights when he was afraid to sleep.

He would fall asleep.

Then struggle to wake up.

To move.

To breathe.

When he woke up, he was filled with fear.

Sometimes he stayed awake until morning.

This too had continued for years.

And something very human had happened:

what he once fought...

he had slowly begun to accept as part of his life.

THIS TIME, HE DIDN'T JUST ACCEPT IT

That night, the condition began again.

The same fear.

The same struggle to wake up.

The same experience that had troubled him before.

But this time, he responded differently.

He didn't simply surrender to the thought:

“Here it comes again.”

He cried out:

“IN THE NAME OF JESUS, DEVIL, LEAVE!”

According to his testimony, that night he experienced a powerful release.

But for him, the evidence was not only what he felt in that moment.

It was what happened afterward.

WHAT HE HAD ACCEPTED FOR YEARS DID NOT RETURN

Months passed.

And according to his testimony:

that fear never returned.

And together with it, he testifies that:

THE STOMACH PAIN DID NOT RETURN EITHER.

He says that for years he had become used to these things.

He had accepted them as part of life.

And that raises an important question:

WHAT IF I'VE ACCEPTED SOMETHING ONLY BECAUSE IT HAS LASTED A LONG TIME?

A BLIND MAN HEARD THAT JESUS WAS PASSING BY

He could not see.

He sat by the road.

One day, he heard the noise of a crowd.

He asked what was happening.

They told him:

“JESUS is passing by.”

Then he began to call out:

“JESUS, HAVE MERCY ON ME!”

He wanted something.

And he believed that JESUS could help him.

He wasn't calling out without knowing who he was calling to.

He was calling to JESUS.

THEY TOLD HIM: “BE QUIET”

The people in front of him rebuked him.

They told him to stop.

Think about it.

He could not see.

JESUS was passing by.

And the people were telling him:

“STOP CALLING OUT.”

He had two choices.

Listen to the crowd...

or keep asking for the help he needed.

What did he do?

HE DIDN'T STAY QUIET

The Bible says that he:

CRIED OUT EVEN LOUDER.

Why?

Not because his voice had magical power.

Not because shouting itself could heal him.

But because the crowd was not the one who could help him.

He knew who he was calling to:

JESUS.

He wasn't saying:

“I'm shouting because my shouting has power.”

He was acting as if to say:

“JESUS IS HERE.

AND I'M NOT GOING TO LET THIS MOMENT PASS.”

— Luke 18:35–43 / Mark 10:46–52

Then something happened.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?”

JESUS called him.

And asked:

“WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?”

The man didn't give a long answer.

He didn't say:

“Whatever You think.”

He knew exactly what he was asking for.

He said:

“LORD, I WANT TO SEE.”

He had come asking for healing.

And he did not abandon his request.

HE SAW

JESUS healed him.

And he began to see.

Look at the whole story:

he had a real problem.

he heard that JESUS was there.

he asked for help.

people told him to be quiet.

he called out even more.

JESUS stopped.

He asked him what he wanted.

the man said it clearly.

and he received the healing he had asked for.

And that brings us to a very personal question:

WHO IS TELLING YOU TO BE QUIET?

“LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT”

Maybe it's not a physical crowd.

It may be a thought:

“You've had it for years.”

“What are you still expecting?”

“You've already tried.”

“It didn't change.”

“Learn to live with it.”

Maybe you've even begun saying those things to yourself.

And here we need to make an important distinction.

Persistence does not mean denying reality.

It does not mean pretending you are not in pain.

It does not mean refusing to see a doctor.

It does not mean refusing tests.

It does not mean abandoning recommended treatment.

It means:

I WILL NOT CLOSE THE QUESTION JUST BECAUSE TIME HAS PASSED.

SAY CLEARLY WHAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR

JESUS asked the blind man:

“What do you want?”

He said:

“I want to see.”

Not:

“Do something.”

Not only:

“You know.”

But clearly:

“I WANT TO SEE.”

You can also speak clearly to the FATHER:

“FATHER, this is what I'm suffering with.

You know how long it has lasted.

This is what I want to change.

I'm asking You for help.

I'm asking You for healing.”

You don't need complicated words.

Say clearly what you are asking for.

And don't think that sincere prayer means you no longer need to do anything else.

Keep seeking help.

Keep moving forward.

Keep doing what you need to do for your health.

And keep talking to God.

THE CROWD DID NOT DECIDE WHAT HE SHOULD ASK FOR

This is the point to remember.

The crowd said:

“Be quiet.”

But the crowd was not JESUS.

The people around him did not decide what he was allowed to ask JESUS for.

He continued.

Not because he was stubborn.

Not because he thought shouting long enough would force a result.

But because:

HE KNEW WHO HE WAS CALLING TO.

And here the question becomes bigger than the pain itself:

DO I KNOW THE JESUS I'M ASKING FOR HELP?

BEGIN WITH JESUS

The blind man did not call out a formula.

He called out to JESUS.

The witness, after years of fear and pain, called on the name of JESUS.

And according to his testimony, after that night, neither that fear nor the stomach pains returned.

Therefore, this journey does not end only with:

“Be more persistent.”

Or:

“Shout louder.”

It ends with something much more important:

KNOW THE ONE YOU ARE GOING TO.

Because persistence is not the center.

JESUS is the center.

JESUS said:

“I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the FATHER except through me.”

If you want to know God...

if you want to come near to the FATHER...

the beginning is JESUS.

It is not the words of a formula that save you.

What matters is that you are coming to JESUS with faith and sincerity.

A SIMPLE PRAYER

You can say:

FATHER,

I come to You just as I am.

I believe in JESUS.

I believe that He is the Way to You and my Savior.

Forgive me for my sins.

Today I receive JESUS as the Lord and Savior of my life.

Draw me close to You.

Teach me to know You and to walk with You.

I want to begin a new life with You.

In the name of JESUS. Amen.

DON'T BECOME SILENT JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE WAITED A LONG TIME

Think again about what brought you here.

Maybe you've had it for months.

Maybe for years.

Maybe you've already organized your life around it.

The witness had stomach pain that sometimes kept him in bed for up to two days.

Over time, these things had become almost normal for him.

The blind man had lived without sight.

But when he heard that JESUS was passing by...

HE CALLED OUT.

The crowd told him:

“BE QUIET.”

He:

CALLED OUT EVEN LOUDER.

Then JESUS asked him:

“WHAT DO YOU WANT?”

And he said:

“I WANT TO SEE.”

So the question for you is not only:

“How long have I had this?”

Also ask:

“WHAT DO I WANT TO ASK JESUS FOR?”

Say it clearly.

Pray.

Seek the help you need.

Go to a doctor when you need to.

Have the tests you need.

Follow the care you've been advised to follow.

But don't let time...

exhaustion...

disappointment...

or other voices...

silence what you are asking for.

Because the lesson of the blind man is not:

“Shout, and you are guaranteed to receive everything you ask for.”

It is much cleaner than that:

HE DID NOT LET THE CROWD DECIDE WHEN HE SHOULD GIVE UP ON JESUS.

And that is the heart of this journey:

DON'T LET LONG SUFFERING TEACH YOU TO STOP ASKING.

You may not yet know how your story will end.

But the time that has passed is not a reason to stop coming to JESUS.
